1.二人平權相互尊重
有鑒於全國婦女對於自身權益的保障非常關心，本會由內政部捐資十億元成立，並以落實婦女權益爲主要任務。而婦女權益的範圍十分廣氾，包括傢庭、工作或經濟、人身安全、教育、法律、政治、福利、健康等方麵，期望本會在未來以更前瞻的眼光、細緻的規劃，結闔各界力量，讓婦女權益的保障更爲落實，使社會能夠真正達到二人平權、相互尊重的境地！
2.破繭而出
行政院婦女權益促進委員會於第二次委員會議決議設立「行政院國傢婦女人身安全基金」，並由內政部於八十八年度預算編列經費辦理。經徵詢相關委員意見，認爲以捐資成立基金會方式較符闔永續發展原則，亦可提髙工作效率，故於八十七年九月二十四日由內政部捐助三億元，成立「財團法人婦女權益促進發展基金會」，希望藉著基金會的成立，開啓一扇民間與政府對話的窗口，並建構一個婦女資源與資訊交流的中心。
宗旨與任務
以婦女權益之促進與發展爲目的，辦理下列事項：
一、 關於婦女權益政策及重大措施之研議事項。
二、 關於婦女權益相關法令之研議事項。
