湛江霞山水产品批发市场――全国海鲜交易中心 对虾集散中心 湛江旅游美食购物胜地 Description: 霞山水产品批发市场的水产品贸易，渊源悠远，早在明清时代，已是民间露天集市地。邻近平乐、麻斜、特呈、南三的渔民，习惯赶潮泊船在此，到岸边兜售水产鱼货，潮涨成圩，潮落收市。彼此约定俗成，以汛期集市，世代相随，经久不衰。
1899年法帝国主义侵占广州湾（湛江市前身），为巩固和发展其殖民桶治，在西营（今霞山）进行市政建设，初成商埠。法人于1912年在今水产品批发 市场右侧，动工修道一座长334米，宽7米的栈桥码头，周边筑建青石海堤。桥建成后，船只来往频繁，客船也在此停靠上渡，人流增多，今霞山水产品批发市场 周围成了霞山至早的鱼货集散地。
